Our
Services |
|
We provide a
caring, efficient, friendly and conscientious service for companion
animals, horses and the local farming community. |
| |
|
Home Visits
If you require a visit, please provide as much notice as
possible. We plan the day first thing as efficiently as
possible for equine, farm stock and small animals visits -
giving priory to urgent cases. |
 |
| |
|
Appointments
Consultations are by
appointment and please telephone in advance to book a
convenient appointment at any of the surgeries. We keep some
appointments back for the day to provide for unexpected and
urgent situations. We will always see your pet as quickly as
possible for genuine emergencies. |
 |
| |
|
Emergency Service
We provide our own in-house 24 hour emergency service
covered by our own vets, with access to your pet’s history
records. Many other practices operate a shared cover between
them or outsource their emergency service.
In emergencies it is
usually better to bring your pet to our Hospital in Christchurch as
calling in at your home could waste valuable time if we need to transfer
the animal to the hospital for immediate treatment or nursing.
Always
ring the emergency number first before turning up at the hospital as
this gives the vet time to get there. |

Puppy Parties/Nurses
Clinics
We hold lunchtime parties to socialise puppies
from 1st vaccination to 12 weeks. Owners
will receive advice on diet, house training, general animal care,
vaccinations, behaviour, neutering, fleas and wormers, dental care. Free
packs of food samples and discount vouchers against vaccines are
available. Nurses’ clinics provide general advice and information:
tackling obesity by promoting weight loss programmes; instructing on
dental care and hygiene to maintain clean and healthy teeth and gums for
their pets; advising on mobility problems and arthritis. |

Royal Canin Food
We endorse Royal Canin for the lifestage foods and veterinary
prescription foods for cats and dogs due to their emphasis on
preventative healthcare. RC offers a 100% money back guarantee should
your pet not like the food but free samples are available upon request. |
 |
| |
Lost and Found
We recommend microchipping whenever
possible which gives your animal a unique number which is
held on a national database. The implanted chip is read by a
scanner. Horses, tortoises and birds can be microchipped as
well as cats and dogs. Often animals are brought into the
hospital and we have many happy occasions when we can match
up a lost animal with its owner. |

|
Prescriptions
With 24 hours notice, we can provide you with repeat
prescriptions at any of our branches. Your animal must have
been seen by us within the last 6 months in order for us to
comply with the legislation laid down by our governing body,
the RCVS.
Pet Foods and Accessories
We like to be involved with your animals when they are not
ill and so we offer a selected range of pet foods and
accessories such as collars and leads, shampoos and hygiene
products, vitamins, chews and dental care products. We stock a full range of pet food. With next day delivery
for most non standard orders. |

Wildlife and Strays
If you have stray cats hanging around your area do not feed
them, the chances are they have a home already. If a
cat is injured or obviously ill, please feel free to bring
it to our Christchurch Hospital for examination, however if
it appears healthy, we are not allowed to 'board' the animal as we will be unaware of the clinical history of
the stray and would not want to compromise the health of our
hospitalised patients. If it appears healthy please call
the Cats Protection League (01202 680323) or the RSPCA
(0300 1234 999).
If you find young wildlife, the best advice is to leave it
where it is as it is probably being cared for by its
parents. Only handle wildlife to bring it to the hospital
if it is obviously ill or injured. There is one exception
being very small, young hedgehogs. These need to be brought
in to us if found wandering in November or December as they
will be too small to hibernate and so will not live through
the winter. |
